The university lecturers, members of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, have been on strike for four weeks. They are scheduled to hold a meeting with top government officials on Monday. The civic groups resolved to kick off rallies across Nigeria after a meeting in Lagos on Sunday, and will proceed with the protest whether or not ASUU calls off its strike.
