Former Birmingham City striker Christian Benítez died in hospital in Qatar today from complications leading to cardiac arrest at the age of 27. The striker from Ecuador died just weeks after a £10million move to Qatar side, El Jaish. The Ecuadorian Football Federation said on their website that Benitez 'had severe stomach pain, was rushed to a hospital, where after a few hours suffered cardio respiratory arrest, which ended his life.'

Educationist condemn ASUU strike

EDUCATIONIST and Managing Director of Victory Group of Schools has condemned the
Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike embarked upon some weeks ago. Speaking to newsmen at the valedictory ceremony of the schools at the weekend, Chief Christian Francis Olaniyan urged ASUU to go back to work and resolve its dispute with the Federal Government amicably. Maintaining that incessant strikes by the union at the peak of academic session have done incalculable damage to the educational system of the country, Olaniyan added that their demands can only be met at negotiation table.
